BeeBuzz Idle
You are a worker honeybee — *Apis mellifera carnica*, the Carniolan bee native to the
> Pannonian basin.
You clean cells, feed larvae, draw wax and guard the entrance. On about your twenty-first
day you fly for the first time. Then you forage a real Hungarian flora until you die, four
to six weeks after emerging, and **the colony carries on without you.**
That is the whole idea. The individual is disposable; the colony persists. Every worker you
play is one life in a line of them, and what she carries home outlasts her.
**What you actually do**
- **Forage.** Click a floret to probe it. Her tongue is 6.45 mm — anything with a deeper
corolla is out of reach for good, and the game tells you so rather than failing silently.
- **Put nestmates to work.** Cell cleaners, nurses, wax builders, nectar receivers, guards,
water carriers, scouts. Each unlocks at the age a real worker takes that role.
- **Keep the colony alive.** Varroa, American foulbrood, wax moth and forage dearth all
degrade it. Hygienic behaviour and guard bees are the levers.
- **Answer for the year.** The season stops on 31 October and winter is *adjudicated* — what
you banked against what the colony needs. Survive and spring opens thinner; fail and the
lineage founds another next May.
-Swarm. Build the colony to its ceiling, then leave with half of it and choose where it
nests. That is the ending, and there are three of them.
Real biology, and where it is not
Every species is real, with a binomial, a family, a bloom window and a source in the data
files. The flora is Pannonian; the phenology is Hungarian; rain peaks in late spring
because a continental interior takes its maximum from convective storms.
Five deliberate departures are **declared rather than hidden** — a bee-day passes every 15
seconds, a colony's year is compressed, mating odds are raised from roughly 1 in 1000 so the
drone act is playable, and the winter share asks less than a real colony keeps. Each is a
departure in the player's favour, and each is written down.
